The International Date Line
The International Date Line is a zigzag line which approximately follows. The 180 degree meridation except where it crosses land. As the earth rotates from west to east, there is a disparity in time all over the world. If the time at green which meridations is 12 noon. At 180 degree east it is midnight of the same day, while at 180 degree west; the day is only just beginning. The International Date Line was discovered mainly to overcome this disparity. Thus, when the date line is crossed to the west, the date must be advanced by one day.
