A map projection is the systematic arrangement or the earth s (or generating globe’s) parallels and meridians onto a plane surface these meridians and parallels make the projection graticule the projection .process also involves the transformation of earth features. This transformation process is done on the basis of gratures . Maps are drown on a flat surface and represent a part or whole of the earth‘s surface. The spherical shape of the earth is represented on the plane surface by devising geometrical and mathematical methods and the network of latitudes and longitudes upon which an accurate depiction of the earth is made this process of transformation is known as projection.
A projection can be derived by projrvting light through a globe made of a glass with graticules marked on it on any developable surface which is called perspective projecting but if maridified with the aid of that of map projecting. It may acquire certain particular properties and it is called non – perspectives projection.
