Latitude
Latitudes are imaginary lines drawn parallel to the equator and run from east to west. They get shorter near the poles. The longest line of latitude is called equator and its angular distance is 0. The Arctic Circle and Antarctic are at 66.30’N and 66.30’S of the equator, respectively the other important lines of latitude are the tropic of cancer at 23030’N and the tropic of Capricorn at 23030’S. The north poles are at 900N and the South Pole us at 900S.
